I love the ease of use! Prices are as accurate as you're going to get. I've had this app downloaded for a while and I've been playing around with flights from here to there at different times of the year....never booked until now! I love it! My favorite part is the Flight Watcher where the app tells you if it's best to purchase now, or wait. There are additional fees for things like price freezes or other select amenities you may want for your flight, but overall this app is great!
Do not use. I paid to "freeze" my airfare price. Came back to book a couple hours before my freeze expired, and prices had gone up. Lucky me. Glad I froze. Wrong. There was a "technical error" and it wouldn't let me book my airfare even though seats were still available. I tried refreshing and restarting about 25 times. No luck. So I booked with another app. Hopper can hop right on outta here with their "convenient" glitches. Bye bye!
There is always an issue or a bug with this app. I've been charged 3 times, over $5,000 without a booking!! That's makes absolutely no sense at all!! Customer service is terrible!! I asked multiple times to book the flight through them and they kept telling me to uninstall and reinstall the app. I was given the same instructions the night before and again the next day. After explaining this several times, they kept pushing me to try again through the app. Absolutely not.
This app is a great idea but could use a little tweaking. The alert system could be improved a bit. But the main problem today is some sort of message in the app that's covered by the "need help?" button. "Hopper isnt able to make an_________ but you can still view flights." Wish I could attach a screenshot.

5 times! 5 times have tried to get a flight and EVERYTIME, no matter how fast I go through the booking, the app says the flight is not available anymore when finishing payment details. I've given it a solid try as this is not the first time it has done that. Last time I thought it was simply a minor bug, but now it seems to be part of how it works. Sorry Hopper, wish you the best of luck.
I've been a long-time user of Hopper and appreciated its convenience for travel planning. However, I'm disappointed to see a shift towards misleading offers and claims that don't hold up at booking. Deals that seem promising initially turn out to be different, with hidden fees and conditions not clearly stated upfront. I did call the customer service right after learning about the additional fees, and since the customer service was not helpful at all, I wrote this review!
Hopper is pretty great. I love the peak calendars, the notifications when prices change, purchasing tickets is easy. Usually things run smoothly There was one instance where we had issues getting a hold of customer support. The last time we called them for an immediate issue regarding a cancelled flight and return flight after missing our connecting flight. On the call, we were passed around several times just to be told they couldnt help us, they'll call us back for approval and they never did
BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I purchased a flight labeled as comfort +. When I tried to pick my seats it was only Comfort+ for 3 of the 4 lags. Nowhere did it say this when I was purchasing. They took several days to "research the problem". They called and left a message that they did nothing wrong and did not overcharge me. I had to spend an additional $230 to upgrade to the seats I already paid for. Do not fall for the price being a few $ less. SHADY BUSINESS STAY CLEAR! NOT WORTH A FEW $'S!!
I love this app! I recommend it to everyone that likes to travel. Especially if you're flexible with dates & even locations; we were able to get round-trip flights to Australia for $400! I love that Hopper updates you of your price fluctuations; it makes it super easy to book. A couple of times we needed to change flights (once was international) & because we had the insurance, they were able to get us squared away with new flights & refunded for price changes. Love Hopper, best travel app IMHO
All your deposits are non refundable and they don't communicate with the hotel, they don't have the proper information for bookings and whenever a problem comes up they always push it onto the hotel. I downloaded this app for a trip and showed up and they had put me and my friend in for a single bed instead of the 2 I reserved so now I have $200 gone that could've been used for anything else. AVOID THIS APP. ITS A RIPOFF!
Terrible experience with the customer support team. I was told multiple times that a refund for my flight was requested and approved by the airline, to just wait, and now they say there is no refund, just credit. The person who helped me was so confusing, It was so hard to understand his english was very bad and gave me all the wrong information, saying I had credit with Hopper. I called the airline and confirmed that I had credit with them, and there was never a refund request.
I downloaded Hopper years ago and it was amazing then (it suggests different days or airports to get the best deal). But it's gotten really complicated in the last couple of years. It no longer suggests different days or airports or "flexible" filter so you have to search for A LOT of different configurations that get saved and clutter up the que. Also for some reason it's "not able to make accurate predictions" with Sacramento airport rendering it absolutely useless for me.
Update: This doesn't help me anymore at all. It told me to keep waiting for a flight but the price just kept increasing as time went on. Better to just use Google Flights to be honest. (3 stars) Meh. I liked it better years ago when I would explore cheap flights from my base city. I really don't like how the app automatically adds my searches to tracked flights. Customer support is not great.
I've never reviewed an app before. But I feel like you need to be warned about this company. It is true that you may find some good deals on this app. I saved a good amount of money booking flights for 4 people. However, before the flight, all reservations were suddenly canceled. No warning, no reason. Called the airline who said: talk to Hopper. Talking to Hopper is nearly impossible. They ACTUALLY charge you more for customer service. No joke. Don't do it. Book directly w/airline. NOT WORTH IT
Booked a flight w refund insurance in October, trip was cancelled and I got a travel credit back. Tried to contact the company about a price freeze. No response. Tried to rebook 2 more times with the travel credit in February (which you can't use w/o them reaching out to you), no response. Tried to contact them again in March about getting a refund. No response. At this point I'm not sure if the company is still in business. Unfortunately I'll be losing $700+ when the credit expires this summer.
I've used Hopper for a very long time and generally love it. However, recently, I am unable to watch flights. If I attempt to add one, it shows it as "Watching", but then never shows up on my tracked flights list. I've attempted to reach out to support, but it's been difficult to get help. This is the main reason I use Hopper, so any help from their team would be very much appreciated!
This app is a scam!! They've stolen two price freeze deposits from me, and there's no way to contact customer service to get my money back. They give you the option to place a deposit on the flight, which is what I did. I went back a week later to pay the remaining balance, they charged my credit card but never sent me a flight confirmation. I went back to the app days after they charged me, and the app showed my flight had expired. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!
I have booked through Hopper 4 times. Only two of those were successful (as in, I received the services expected), and only one was pleasant. The 2nd hotel I booked w/ them had fake photos on the listing. The 3rd was a car rental they confirmed. When I arrived to pick up the car, there were none in sight & no communication from either vendor that this would be an issue, resulting in a loss of two jobs for the contractor my small business manages. (No room for anything else, but you get it)
This used to be a pretty simple and useful app. But it's super cluttered now. Y'all's bread and butter used to be the flight watches, but now it's not obvious where you can find the ones you're tracking. I get that y'all wanna expand into hotels and cars. That's great. But please make it easier to find things you're tracking. That's the whole point of your app. Replace Wallet and "Deals" with Watched Flights / Watched Cars / Watched Hotels or something useful.
I understand that they're busy and probably a smaller service than most airlines or larger apps. That being said, when you wait patiently for customer service for almost 2 months for a refund, it gets tiresome (still not received). Customer service is unimaginably hard to reach (only from the app, no phone number, no email listed) and only contacts with pre-written emails, even after multiple attempts to follow up on questions. To whoever uses this app in the future, be very wary.
